Ray Johnson, instrumental in establishing the Great Lakes Bible school, fell asleep at 93

Is it not nice when you can become of a certain age and have given others lots of energy and new hope?

Our beloved brother, Ray Johnson, 93, fell asleep in the Lord early Saturday morning, July 30th. He had been struggling with old age the last few months and in fact missed his first Great Lakes Bible school this July. Brother Ray felt Bible schools were very important for families and so was instrumental in establishing this Bible school in 1967.

Ray was a pillar of faith and always talked about the Hope of Israel. He indeed “commanded his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice” (Gen. 18:19).

He was preceded in death by his sister wife, Juanita, and is survived by his believing children, Jay Johnson, Russ Johnson, Crystal Maney and Trent Johnson. His grandchildren, very dear to him, are brothers and sisters Aaron, Alan and Adam Johnson, Jacob Maney, Jessica Parker, Carmen Turner, Andrew Johnson, Heather Birong, Alex Johnson, and Martin Johnson and Mitchell Johnson. He had 18 great grandchildren.

Brother Ray’s visitation is 1:00 pm this Friday, Aug 5, and funeral at 2:00 pm with luncheon following.
