Our Prayer theme for January 2020

Just over two years ago, we were considering the rapid demise of our brotherhood in this country following the sharing of the situation through the Big Conversation movement.

Remember that?

Prayers were asked for that God would be pleased to perform a great work amongst the brotherhood, and that we might all be encouraged by a new spirit and growth throughout the land.

Events in the last two years have been nothing short of astounding, as ecclesias across the land have been inundated with refugees especially from Iran, who are fleeing religious persecution and in fear of their lives for becoming Christians whilst in Iran. We have all seen the tremendously uplifting video documentary (underneath) produced by brother Martin Evans showing so graphically how exciting each week has become with literally hundreds of earnest seekers after Bible truth making their way to halls all over the country.

The film can also be downloaded here: http://www.sale-christadelphians.net/iranian-christadelphians using the password you can get from us or from the Sale Christadelphians! Well worth 45 mins of your time.

The video was mainly concerned with the North West, but Don Graham is meeting with over 75 Iranians in East Ham, London, whilst Cass has just alerted us to the plight of Wakefield ecclesia who are overwhelmed by sheer numbers of people eager to understand more. Liz Wright has told us there are 4-5 in Swindon as well.

There are many more.

On 29 December, we were delighted to be able to share our services with three Iranians, Kamran, Milad and Azedeh, and what a blessing to enjoy positive and uplifting times of refreshing from the Lord in our midst that day. We know that there will be another visit from Iranian brothers and sisters on 16 February to share another multicultural service once again.

We have all witnessed the incredible flood of refugees from the Middle East ever since the Arab Spring in 2011, but the recent influx of Iranian refugees is another order as far as it directly affects the brotherhood. God has answered the prayer revival prompted by the Big Conversation and He has opened a door in the most unexpected manner. Ever since December we have begun to pray for some part in all of this for Newbury Ecclesia and Brussel-Leuven ecclesia.

Since we started praying specifically about this, we have had 3 Iranian visitors to the Newbury Ecclesia, a few weeks ago we have now seen awesome events in the world and particularly involving yes, Iran, and America, Canada, Ukraine, and the whole world has this at the forefront of its news. And, we have another visit to look forward to next month.

So, brother Tim is sure you will agree, that NOW is the time for some focus in our prayers on this theme, that God will open a door for us in our own hall here in the coming year, that we might be able to help other ecclesias where we can, both practically and financially: brother John Hellawell is recently noted for saying that the Iranian refugees might just be the salvation of our community going forward. WE must therefore grasp the moment NOW and earnestly pray in the spirit of Acts 4:23-31 and get up on our watchtowers to see what answer He will give to us (Habbakuk 2:1)

“23  And being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said unto them. 24 And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is: 25 who by the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of our father David thy servant, didst say, Why did the Gentiles rage, And the peoples imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth set themselves in array, And the rulers were gathered together, Against the Lord, and against his Anointed: 27 for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together, 28 to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass. 29 And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness, 30 while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” (Ac 4:23-31 ASV)

“ I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look forth to see what he will speak with me, and what I shall answer concerning my complaint.” (Hab 2:1 ASV)

Thus says the Lord God,

“I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshesh and Tubal…..I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia and Libya are with them, with shield and helmet, Gomer and all its troops, the house of Togarmah from the far north, many people are with you”

Ezekiel 38:3-6
