We may not be ignorant to get wisdom

Many may perhaps say they want to know the truth, but we do not see many looking for it. Christians should always look for the real wisdom which can bring them further in their life.

Some consider it to be full of wisdom when a person can get all the answers right of a quiz. On television they have shows being called ‘the wisest person of the world’ or the ‘smartest person of the world’ and many viewers take it that person to be full of wisdom. But is it so? Is wisdom having such funny answers on sometimes very stupid questions?

What gives a person the elements by which he or she may be considered wise and full of wisdom? Who has wisdom in him or her?

The Bible tells us that wisdom will not enter into a malicious being, nor dwell in a body subject to sins, though lots of people who are considered to be wise by the community are those who give themselves a name and power and who permit themselves to take actions which would be considered by others not ethical or not righteous. Should we not much more trust that wisdom is something much deeper in man, which shows to the outer world by the right attitude and the well considered words that person can speak, presenting a righteous attitude? In the Holy Scriptures we can find that God is the One Who provides people with wisdom. It is the Holy Spirit who provides the power to think and to handle in a certain manner. It is also God’s Spirit Who makes that the mind can find the right track.

The Holy Spirit of discipline will flee from the deceitful, and will withdraw himself from thoughts that are without understanding, and he shall not abide when iniquity comes in. It is is rebuked when wickedness comes, for the spirit of wisdom is benevolent, and will not acquit the evil speaker from his lips. When a person has the Spirit of God in him it is not like a certain Christian movement wants us to believe they shall be able to speak in gabberdash, speaking in tongues murmuring a language nobody can understand. Of everything we do and say God is witness and knows the heart. He is a true searcher of the persons heart, and a hearer of his tongue.  This makes that in fact anybody may think what they want, judge the person high or low, adore him or detest him, they should never have to judge the person because that belongs to God. This we may not forget and we also should not be ignorant for the way we want to get wisdom and what for sort wisdom. In the knowledge that the Spirit of the Most High Lord has filled the whole world: and that which contains all things, has knowledge of the voice. God knows our thoughts and hears what we want to say and what we really say.

Wis 1:4-7 WEBA  Because wisdom will not enter into a soul that devises evil, nor dwell in a body that is enslaved by sin.  (5)  For a holy spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and will depart from thoughts that are without understanding, and will be ashamed when unrighteousness has come in.  (6)  For wisdom is a spirit who loves man, and she will not hold a blasphemer guiltless for his lips; because God bears witness of his reins, and is a true overseer of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue:  (7)  Because the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said.

It is the own wickedness of people that shall correct them, and their way how they treat others and how they turn back shall reprove them. Many of the so called wise men have forgotten about that Divine Creator and mock God. The laughing stock seems very enjoyable for many in the world, but we should know that faith is a serious business and not stupid as others may call it.

The forsaking of God and the way how people have no fear at all any more may look wise for many but could be very unwise.

Jer 2:19 WEBA  “Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backsliding will rebuke you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing, that you have forsaken Yahweh your God, and that my fear is not in you,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

Those who receive all honour on the television screen and in the magazines could be very surprised at the end of the road. They also, perhaps, shall find out that their life also may have been to short and tedious. They too may come to see that we all are born at all adventure, and we shall be hereafter as though we had never been, once out of picture or when we die we shall fast be forgotten: for the breath is a smoke in our nostrels and the words as a spark raised out of our heart.
Our life shall pass away as the trace of a cloud, and come to naught as the mist that is driven away with the beams of the sun, and cast down with the heath thereof. Let us not make any illusions, our name also shall be forgotten in time, and no man shall have our works in remembrance. For our time is as a shadow that passes away, and after our end there is no returning: for it is fast sealed, so that no man comes again.

Wis 2:1-5 WEBA  For they said within themselves, with unsound reasoning, “Our life is short and sorrowful. There is no healing when a man comes to his end, and no one was ever known that was released from Hades.  (2)  Because we were born by mere chance, and hereafter we will be as though we had never been; because the breath in our nostrils is smoke, and reason is a spark kindled by the beating of our heart;  (3)  which being extinguished, the body will be turned into ashes, and the spirit will be dispersed as thin air.  (4)  Our name will be forgotten in time. No one will remember our works. Our life will pass away as the traces of a cloud, and will be scattered as is a mist, when it is chased by the rays of the sun, and overcome by its heat.  (5)  For our alloted time is the passing of a shadow, and our end doesn’t retreat; because it is securely sealed, and no one turns it back.

We should be very well aware that we may not understand the mysteries of God, neither hope for the reward of righteousness, nor can discern the honour of the souls that are faultless. God has given His Word to us so that we can learn from it and can get more wisdom from it. We can accept it or refuse it. But when ignoring it  we can not blame an other for not having the true wisdom. We also should remember that God created man without corruption, and made him after the image of his own likeness, but that man thought to be smarter than Him and thought to be able to run the world on his own. Those who do not want to know about God are perhaps less wise than many think and their reasoning may be build on false thoughts and be constructed on quicksand where they want to walk on in their blindness, thinking they are safe.

Wis 2:21-24 WEBA  Thus they reasoned, and they were led astray; for their wickedness blinded them,  (22)  and they didn’t know the mysteries of God, neither did they hope for wages of holiness, nor did they discern that there is a prize for blameless souls.  (23)  Because God created man for incorruption, and made him an image of his own everlastingness;  (24)  but death entered into the world by the envy of the devil, and those who belong to him experience it.

The world should come to know they have to make choices and have to find the right path again. they also should come to know that God’s Word will be shown to be hard and true. When people will come to see how the world fooled them it will not be so easy for them. The realization that the world has successfully duped you for years will bring much sadness and grief.

Isa 24:10-23 WEBA  The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.  (11)  There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone.  (12)  The city is left in desolation, and the gate is struck with destruction.  (13)  For it will be so within the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.  (14)  These shall lift up their voice. They will shout for the majesty of Yahweh. They cry aloud from the sea.  (15)  Therefore glorify Yahweh in the east, even the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea!  (16)  From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, “I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!” The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.  (17)  Fear, the pit, and the snare, are on you who inhabitant the earth.  (18)  It will happen that he who flees from the noise of the fear will fall into the pit; and he who comes up out of the middle of the pit will be taken in the snare; for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.  (19)  The earth is utterly broken. The earth is torn apart. The earth is shaken violently.  (20)  The earth will stagger like a drunken man, and will sway back and forth like a hammock. Its disobedience will be heavy on it, and it will fall and not rise again.  (21)  It shall happen in that day that Yahweh will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth.  (22)  They shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison; and after many days shall they be visited.  (23)  Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Yahweh of Armies will reign on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders will be glory.

Coming closer to a time where we can clearly see what was prophesied centuries ago, it is a matter of willingness to open the eyes for the Word of God or to shut it out of your life and to be part of that world which shall go its own way, facing that what shall come.

People may count on the robots which they would think make life easier, but they overlook social elements and how they ruin ‘our earth’ by polluting it with all sorts of filth. But living in that world which wants to be ignorant for the signs the Maker of All Things is giving, others may want to find those signs in the Book of books and take those wise words into their heart, knowing that it will be the best Guide they can have. In that Book of books is all wisdom available for mankind. We can take it or leave it.

Ignorance is bliss

is something the world says.

But unlike most of what the world says, there is a Biblical equivalent.

Ecc 1:18 WEBA  For in much wisdom is much grief; and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.

Ecc 1:2-3 WEBA  “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”  (3)  What does man gain from all his labor in which he labors under the sun?

The mere widening of the horizon, whether of ethical or of physical knowledge, brought no satisfaction. In the former case men became more conscious of their distance from the true ideal. when we look at the world and see how it is evolving we can get sorrow in seeing more clearly all human failings and hopelessness.

“Great scholars do but make of themselves great mourners” (Henry).

The world did not and still does not want to hear the message of the followers of Christ. Jesus wept (John 11:35) and we can do that as well (Romans 12:15). Yet “wisdom” (proper wisdom) brings life also

Ecc 7:12 WEBA  For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

We should strive for that wisdom that can protect us and which can bring us further on the right path, closer to the Most High Divine. Wisdom preserves the life of the possessor. If in this time of vanity and vexation of spirit, we fear God and keep His commandments, we shall be remembered by the One Who gives life. We may be misjudged and condemned by men, we may go to the land of forgetfulness without justice being done to us, but in the end ‘God will bring every work into judgment’

Ecc 12:14 WEBA  For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it is good, or whether it is evil.

Ecc 3:17 WEBA  I said in my heart, “God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

Ecc 11:9 WEBA  Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

Rom 2:1-9 WEBA  Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.  (2)  We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.  (3)  Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?  (4)  Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?  (5)  But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;  (6)  who “will pay back to everyone according to their works:”  (7)  to those who by perseverance in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;  (8)  but to those who are self-seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath and indignation,  (9)  oppression and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

We must be aware of the danger of absolutism as we consider these “ones.” While it is true that there is “one body” (v. 4), we would be remiss to argue that this single body included only members from the Jewish nation. Paul’s statement was fully encompassing. Jews, Samaritans, and Gentiles would enter that Kingdom/Church which comprised the “one body” (Acts 1:8b). We would also be remiss to argue that the “one body” entails members from only one local congregation. In a sense, there were many bodies (or, local congregations) which existed as part of the First Century Church. We have no problem calling these “the churches of Christ” because the Bible uses this term to describe the one Church or Body over which Christ is the head (cf. Eph. 1:22-23; Rom. 16:16). There is an “E Pluribus Unum” principle; or, “one out of many” which is obvious, especially concerning spiritual matters.
