The Way of the LORD

  • “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep THE WAY OF THE LORD, to do righteousness and justice …”  Gen.18:19
  • “Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He teaches sinners in the way.  The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches HIS WAY.”   Psa.25:8-9
  • “Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in YOUR WAY.”   Psa.119:37
  • “…and did not walk in THE WAY OF THE LORD.”    2 Kings 21:22

We have a choice between the broad and narrow ways. Jesus says that the narrow way leads to life (Matt.7:13-14).  Later in the first century early Christians became known as, ‘the Way’ (Acts 19:23, 24:14, 22).

In 2 Peter 2:2 we have the one true way contrasted with false prophets and their many ‘destructive ways’.
The LORD’S Way is mentioned many times in Scripture.
The  ‘wrong way’ is called the broad way which leads to destruction.
How ironic that the very popular street in New York where all the ‘look at me’ people strut their stuff is called, ‘Broadway’.
Here are some more, ‘Way of the LORD’ verses:
    • “Teach me Your way, O LORD.”  Psa.27:11, 86:11
    • “That Your way may be known on earth…”  Psa.67:2
    • “Blessed are the undefiled in the way…”  Psa.119:1
    • “…then I will give them one heart and one way.”  Jer.32:39
    • “that the LORD your God may show us the way…”   Jer.42:3
    • “But you have departed from the way…”  Mal.2:8
    • “…prepare the way of the LORD…”  Mark 1:3; Isa.40;3
    • “For they did not know the way of the LORD…”  Jer.5:5
    • “This man had been instructed in the way of the LORD…”  Acts18:25
    • “As for God, His way is perfect…”  2 Sam.22:31
  • “THE WAY OF THE LORD is strength for the upright …”   Prov.10:29
