World War 3 has already started

The D-Day commemorations in Normandy took place against a sombre backdrop. Ukraine’s war for national survival has been raging for over two years, and the Middle East is on fire.

While the Second World War is in our thoughts this week, we should soon be turning our thoughts on World War Three. Putin has demonstrated military aggression in Ukraine and Georgia and shown a willingness in the former to commit to a lengthy and costly military campaign of attrition. Iran, meanwhile, has taken advantage of chaos in the Middle East to establish regional hegemony since the Iraq War in 2003. Tehran has built influential and violent proxies in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, funded and supported by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which provides command, training and arms for these proxies. With all eyes on Normandy, the Third World War is closer than we realise: we are already fighting it.

As the world remembers events of the Second World War with Bible in hand we know that World War 3 is coming. The Bible calls it Armageddon. It is a time when all nations will be gathered against Jerusalem to battle. Israel will be the epicentre of global conflict and Jerusalem will be at the heart of it. The word ‘Armageddon’ is made up of three Hebrew words presented below in an anglicised form: Arema – a heap of sheaves , Gai – valley, Dan – judgement. When all these elements are combined, the word is found to mean:

‘A heap of sheaves in a valley for judgement.’

Joel 3 connects these themes together. Joel 3:2 tells us all nations will be gathered and

“I will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat”

Joel 3:14 connects this valley of Jehoshaphat closely to Rev 16:16 and Armageddon.

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision.”
