Today’s thought “Those who can be a Child of God” (December 17)

Anyone who does not love does not belong to God and can not be a Child of God

In the today’s daily reading from God’s Word we read in the loved disciple of Jesus his letter, that hose who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning.

The writer of today’s letter we are reading, asks us to consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us. We should wonder if we are worthy to be called “children of God” When we are real Christians, i.e. following the Nazarene master teacher Jeshua (the Kristos or Christ), we as brethren and sisters in Christ are God His beloved children.

We know that in Christendom we are not with many who recognize the Only One True God. At the same time we are only some of the few who recognize and respect the one who was sent by God, not minimalizing what he had done (by making him into a god son). Him, who was sent and authorized by God, the world does not recognize him and us either.

In real Christians, God’s life should be in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. (1 John 3:1,9)

All followers of Christ Jesus have heard the message of the Gospel and how they have to share that good news with lots of love. It is the “divrei Torah” which we heard from the beginning, that we have ahavah or love for another. Normally as sinners we are participants of a non-ending death. But when we came to choose to follow Christ we have chosen for life by living in him and show the truth by our actions. If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. (1 John 3:14; 18)

Anyone who hates another brother or sister[e] is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them. ave crossed over from death to real life because we are devoted to true love for our brothers and sisters. Anyone who does not love lives among corpses and shall not receive non-ending or eternal life. (1 John 3:15)

Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God and can not be a Child of God.

17 Herein is love made perfect with us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, even so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, [j]cannot love God whom he hath not seen. 21 And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also. (1 John 4:17-21 ASV)

23 And this is his commandment, that we should [f]believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he gave us. (1 John 34:23-24 ASV)
