Today’s thought “Nourished in the words of the faith not falling away from the faith” (November 22)

We should remember that the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that not always people shall be willing to follow the right teachings of Christ Jesus and that in the last times some in the church will turn away from Christ and become eager followers of teachers with “devil-inspired ideas”. These teachers will tell lies with straight faces and do it so often that their consciences won’t even bother them.

But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, [a]branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron; {1 Timothy 4:1-2(ASV)}

Throughout the ages people were confronted with the mysteries of God. (1 Timothy 3:16) About two millennia ago a new era or age started, but still many would not accept what Jesus and his heavenly Father told. (Like Who is who and what they said about each other.) Though from that first century of this modern era preachers went around telling about the Nazarene master teacher who is the way to God.

Throughout history Jehovah God got to see how even His chosen people, kings of both Israel and Judah, but also several priests and so called theologians became apostates and led the nations they were ruling over into a course of apostasy, with their perfidious ideas. Apostasy or falling away from the true faith certainly brought no blessings to Israel and Judah, but also not in our days to our society.

Running in water

Real followers of Christ do have to show people the right way and should always use the Bible as their Guide to bring the essential Bible knowledge to those around them. They also should try to be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that they always should have to follow, avoiding being carried away by human philosophy and man’s weird ideas. Christians as real followers of Christ should have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather they should train themself and others for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed until now: but refuse profane and old wives’ fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness: for bodily exercise is profitable [a]for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.{1 Timothy 4:6-8 ASV}
