From our Newbury ecclesia:
Thank you to those of you that have provided items for the children of Ukraine and other sufferers. I have collected the bags and boxes from the hall and today I am pleased to tell you that these have been delivered to the collection point in Basingstoke. I was able to take a boot full of stuff!
The items (amongst many others) are now being sorted in Basingstoke by a team of volunteers and they will be packaging the items as appropriate into boxes which will then be delivered by road to Heathrow Airport later this week. The packages will then be loaded onto aircraft that will fly them out to Poland where they will be directly used to help Ukrainian refugees who have escaped into Poland, and some will also be loaded onto vehicles for onward transport into Ukraine itself.
I understand that this might be a weekly operation, so if you want to make any more donations, if they are left in the hall then I will pick them up and deliver them to Basingstoke again.
Thank you for your contribution and let us pray that God will bless these efforts with a safe journey, and better still that this terrible war will end quickly, and the Ukrainians might be able to recover some of their lives back home where possible.
