Today’s thought “Going with the right people” (January 01)

By the beginning of the New Year we, in our third and fourth Daily Bible Readings, we look at Psalm 1 & 2 and think about the people we have, or do want to have, contact with.

We should know that happy may be the one who manages to stay clear from the wrong friends; and as such can avoid walking in the advice of the wicked. (Psalm 1:1) When going with the wrong people it is so easy to fall in their trap of false teachings but also to become like them, easy to mock with others or to treat with ridicule or contempt, reacting in a way to others not Christ worthy.
We always have to be careful not to come to sit in the seat of scoffers or ridiculers. (Psalm 1:1) Let us be aware that, when people find our faith ridiculous, not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Never forget that the adversary of God is always on the lookout to speak deceit with their tongue (Psalm 5:9). It is in his arrogance that the wicked man, where there is no room nor fear for God in his head, hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. (Psalm 10:2,4,9-11; 36:1-4)

For 2022 let us make sure that our eyes may be on the right people and on the right things. Let our delight be in the Torah of Adonai. Let us not be taken away from our Daily Bible Study and Readings by people who find such activity stupid or waste of time. By meditating day and night on the Word of God we shall not forget God’s Word and can receive the necessary wisdom to make the best of our life, making our way prosperous, and paving the way to have good success. (Psalm 1:2; 25:5; 63:5; Joshua 1:8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

“1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers: 2 But his delight is in the law of Jehovah; And on his law doth he meditate day and night.” (Ps 1:1-2 ASV)

“16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. 17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.” (2Ti 3:16-17 ASV)

When we can be like a planted tree over streams of water, producing its fruit during its season,
the wicked may not be like that, for they are like chaff that the wind blows away. (Psalm 1:3-4)

Let us make sure this new year that we shall walk on the right site of the road to be able to stand during the judgment in the congregation of the righteous. For Adonai knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to ruin. (Psalm 1:5-6)

“5 Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For Jehovah knoweth the way of the righteous; But the way of the wicked shall perish.” (Ps 1:5-6 ASV)

Therefore, listen to instructions of the elders and fathers, not following the path of the wicked or walking on the way of evildoers.

“ Hear, my sons, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding:” (Pr 4:1 ASV)

“ Enter not into the path of the wicked, And walk not in the way of evil men.” (Pr 4:14 ASV)
