Today’s thought “Inspired to a sincere and pure way of thinking” (December 15)

In his second letter the apostle Peter writes to those that have obtained a like precious faith with him and his fellow apostles in the righteousness of their God and the Saviour Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:1) He writes that in both of his letters he tried to inspire his brethren and sisters to a sincere and pure way of thinking by reminding them of what they already knew. (2 Peter 3:1)

In today’s letter he asks to remember the words spoken earlier by God’s holy prophets and the commandment that our Lord and Saviour gave to the world through the emissaries. (2 Peter 3:2)

Screenshot of Bible Analyzer 4.9 Beta on Linux All those writings which have been meticulously copied and were reproduced in different ways, coming to us by printed material as well as by letters on a computer or other electronic tool, can and should inspire us. By the many Bible software programs for the electronic gadgets people can even take many Bibles in their pocket, on the smartphone or e-reader.
Having all those facilities we should remember and understand that those keeping to the Given Word of God and who are willing to keep the commands the Elohim and His son gave, shall not always be very welcome or loved by those walking on this earth.

The apostle Peter warns that in the last days people will make fun of the truth. Mockers will come, following their own desires and taunting those who believe the Biblical Truth. They will laugh at them who believe in God, believe in His son, and at those who find it important to keep God’s Will more than to the will of man, and as such not wanting to partake to the many heathen festivals. (2 Peter 3:3)

No matter what happens, we should keep being inspired by our daily Bible readings. Every day the Bible should be our Guide and leave. In God, we should put all our trust. Him we should be thankful for His given Word which can bring us every wisdom we need to have a decent life.

The apostle asks his readers not to imagine that God’s timetable would be the same as ours. As the psalm says, for with the Adonai, one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day. (2 Peter 3:8; Psalm 90:4) God is not slow to keep His promise, assures the apostle. People may laugh at us and question us

Where is your God?
Why does He allows all that suffering to happen?
When does he return? (Most of them think we believe Jesus is God who would one day return.)

As in the time of Jesus and his disciple Peter, lots of people do not understand why things are like they are for the moment. They also do not understand that God is not slow in the way some people understand it. Instead, He is patient with mankind. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. Instead, He wants all people to turn away from their sins. (2 Peter 3:9)

We who believe that Jesus is the son of God and the man who gave himself for the sins of many, not only can be inspired by the Holy Scriptures but by our faith in God’s Word and our right reaction to the call of God, we can see that God His Divine Power has granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that called us by His own glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3). Inspired by His infallible Word we our granted with a gracious gift of salvation and can can live by His precious and exceeding great promises (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Following the inspirational path we may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. (2 Peter 1:4) Not following the lascivious doings of those who laugh with us; whilst they with feigned words in covetousness shall make merchandise of us. (2 Peter 2:2-3) Therefore let us be always on our guard. Then we won’t be led astray by people who don’t obey the law. Instead, we will remain safe and be able to grow even more, in the undeserved kindness and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Anointed. (2 Peter 3:18)
