It has brought illness, bereavement, loneliness, unemployment, economic hardship and challenges which world leaders and citizens could not foresee. Lifestyles have changed, some beyond recognition, and this includes the way our ecclesiae meet and interact. Even with the prospect of an effective vaccine many are concluding that things will not be the same again. Appreciating that there will be many individual worries and concerns, we take comfort from the scriptures.
“When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles … Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:17,19, ESV)
Of greatest importance is the vision of the coming kingdom, bringing an age in which all these troubles begin to disappear. Please do not lose sight of that – keep the vision of the kingdom burning brightly. Now is not the time for giving up.
“For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end – it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3, ESV)
