“1  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; 2 So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God.” (Pr 2:1-5 ASV)

Pr 1:3 To receive instruction in wise dealing, In righteousness and justice and equity;

Pr 1:7  The fear of Jehovah is the {1 } beginning of knowledge; But the foolish despise wisdom and instruction. {1) Or chief part }

Pr 3:14 For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.

Pr 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; And the years of thy life shall be many.

Isa 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Mt 13:9 He that hath ears, {1 } let him hear. {1) Some ancient authorities add here, and in verse 43, to hear; as in Mr 4:9; Lu 8:8 }
