The Eternal One Devar Hashem Jehovah brought a message for the whole world. Jehovah God gave it to a man named Zephaniah when Josiah (Amon’s son) was the king of Judah. Zephaniah’s father was Cushi, the son of Gedaliah (Amariah’s son and a descendant of a commoner named Hezekiah). (Zephaniah 1:1)
Eternal One said He was going to wipe the face of the earth clean of every living thing. [the A·dham (earthly being or humankind) and behemah (beast, animal, cattle)]. Even from the Shomayim (heaven) would He be going to take away the Oph HaShomayim (Birds of the Air). He also tells us that He would take away the michsholim (stumbling blocks, what causes to fall into sin) with the resha’im so that nobody shall have to face evil, temptation and problems. (Zephaniah 1:3)Would that not being something nice?
By the words of the prophet Zephania God warns mankind so that they could be prepared.
People shall come to hold their peace (keep silent) at the presence of the Sovereign Adonai Hashem: for the Yom Hashem, the Yom HaDim or the awesome day of the Lord of lord’s judgment is at hand and then all shall know He is the Most High eternal God above all gods, Maker and Giver of life of everything.
It shall come to pass in the Yom Zevach Hashem,“On that day of judgment,” that He shall come to punish those who left Him and shall punish the leaders and princes who did the wrong things and those who participated in pagan worship ceremonies, and those who filled their masters’ houses with violence and deceit. (Zephania1:7-9)
We should be prepared for that day is a Yom Evrah or a day of wrath, when we will see what happens when God is furious. It shall be a Yom Tzarah and Metzukah (a day of trouble and distress, pressure), a Yom of Sho’ah (catastrophe) and Meshoah (desolation), a Yom of Choshech and Afelah (gloom), a Yom of Anan and Arafel (thick darkness), so that we shall be overwhelmed with all the trouble and pain — total destruction. (Zephania 1:15)
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fortified cities, and against the high [h]battlements. 17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung. {Zephania 1:15-17 ASV}
Let us be prepared not to fall into destruction, but to belong to the saved ones.
