The commandments of Christ

— a Testimony Special Issue

2020 Special Issue
The commandments of Christ

Questioned by a rich young ruler as to what to do to inherit eternal life, the Lord Jesus replied succinctly, “Keep the commandments.” But, as the man soon discovered, this demands from us far more than the requirements of the Law of Moses.

Salvation is by the grace of God, but as part of their discipleship Christ has always asked his followers to keep certain commandments — to show their love for God, for him, and for each other.

The thirty articles of the 2020 Special Issue of the Testimony consider these commandments in detail. The articles, written by a wide cross-section of authors from within the Christadelphian community, show that obedience to Christ’s commandments covers every aspect of life today, and is a vital part of our walk towards God’s Kingdom.

Which commandments must we keep? What about the commandments which are not recorded in the Gospels, but which Christ’s apostles knew about and taught? How much are we entitled to ask of our fellow-disciples? And what happens when we are not obedient to our Master? All these questions, and more, are answered. There is a strong practical emphasis in this year’s Special Issue, which we hope will provide encouragement to all those who, like the rich young man, aspire to inheriting eternal life.

The Special Issue is aimed to appeal to brothers and sisters of all ages. It runs to 84 pages, more than twice the length of two standard monthly issues of the magazine.

Regular subscribers will automatically receive their copy to cover May and June, but single copies are available for purchase separately.

As in previous years, the Special Issue is available in printed and electronic (pdf) formats.
