Today’s Thought “That they may know that there is none besides Jehovah ” (June 21)

All those people in the world who worship in front of graven images should come to know not only that they do that in vain, but that there is no other besides the Adonai, the Elohim Hashem Jehovah.

“5  I am Jehovah, and there is none else; besides me there is no God. I will gird thee, though thou hast not known me; 6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me: I am Jehovah, and there is none else.” (Isa 45:5-6 ASV)

Many prophets, like Isaiah and Jesus, tried people come to see Who our divine Creator is and why we should honour and praise Him as the Highest. The Scriptures tell us that His name will be great among the nations, in such a way that people shall talk about Him all day. Also, one day it shall be not strange any more to bring pure offerings to this God’s Name.

“ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the Gentiles, saith Jehovah of hosts.” (Mal 1:11 ASV)

At the moment there are still lots of Christians who do not know the name of God. Most often when asked about their God’s Name they give His tittle: God or Allah. Others say their God is “the Lord” but have also Jesus as their god and lord, not really showing respect to God’s Name nor to the act Jesus had done. They forget how the Most Highest Lord appeared to the forefather or patriarch of the great nation Israel, and let them know His Name, so that His Holy Name could be declared all over the world as the Name above all names. For years certain groups in Christendom tried to get rid of the Name of God, so that people would be confused and come to consider Jesus also to be God much easier or faster. Certainly when they could not see the difference in their Bible translations about which lord was spoken. From the end of the 19th century, a movement started by which many Bible Students started to spread the Name of God. When they were heard more in the 1970ies many more Trinitarian churches started leaving out God’s Name out of their Bibles and out of their services. Though they could not stop the non-trinitarians preaching, going around telling people what is the Name of God. Coming closer to the end times the use of God’s Name shall continue to increase and more people shall unite to exalt God’s Holy Name.

“ and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Jehovah I was not known to them.” (Ex 6:3 ASV)

“ but in very deed for this cause have I made thee to stand, to show thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.” (Ex 9:16 ASV)

“ And in that day shall ye say, Give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name, declare his doings among the peoples, make mention that his name is exalted.” (Isa 12:4 ASV)

Jesus prayed to the God of Israel, the God of Isaiah, Who is the God of Abraham and of many others, like Ruth who also trusted Him how He acts. We too should, like them, trust That One Who forms the light, and creates darkness. In Him, we should trust that by the time peace shall come over us. He Who created human beings on this planet, He stretches out the heavens, and directs all their number.

“7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil. I am Jehovah, that doeth all these things. 8 Distil, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, that it may bring forth salvation, and let it cause righteousness to spring up together; I, Jehovah, have created it.” (Isa 45:7-8 ASV)

“ I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded.” (Isa 45:12 ASV)

When we go out preaching the Name of God, following what Jesus asked us to do, we shall come to see one day that those who refuse to accept Jehovah as their God, shall be blotted out. There shall come a time that God will not hide any more, so that people shall come to hear more about Him, the God of Israel, the Saviour and shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.

“ And I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.” (Isa 8:17 ASV)

“15 Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour. 16 They shall be put to shame, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go into confusion together that are makers of idols. 17 But Israel shall be saved by Jehovah with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be put to shame nor confounded world without end. 18 For thus saith Jehovah that created the heavens, the God that formed the earth and made it, that established it and created it not a waste, that formed it to be inhabited: I am Jehovah; and there is none else.” (Isa 45:15-18 ASV)

“ They shall be turned back, they shall be utterly put to shame, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images, Ye are our gods.” (Isa 42:17 ASV)

“ They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know: that they may be put to shame.” (Isa 44:9 ASV)

God’s counsels may be deep and incomprehensible but when we give ear to them we shall come to understand more. God’s ways and carriages are past finding out, and full of beautiful variety. Much more people should come to see that Jesus is the way to God and that by him we can come close to God and call Him our Father.

Not understanding always how He works we just have to be patiently trusting Him. We should patiently wait for the accomplishment of these glorious things here promised to us. Many times God’s people did mistakes, but always He was willing to come to their help. The same for us. We too, make mistakes and do a lot of faulty things, but we can count on the God of Jesus, Who accepted Jesus ransom for our salvation.

The things Ruth did, she did not to be noticed, but her life was a living example of living faith. She trusted the God of Israel, the Father of our master and brother Christ, by Whom we too have hope in a better world to come.

“3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1Pe 1:3-5 ASV)

None of those prophets, neither Ruth, nor the apostles had ever seen God, because no man can see God and live. But they all put their trust in Him, like Jesus did as well.

“ And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.” (Ex 33:20 ASV)

“8 whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” (1Pe 1:8-9 ASV)

The apostles, who could see Jesus, could get an impression of what god would have to offer them. We have not Jesus and we have to trust those who were with him. The same we shall have to trust those other sent ones from God, the prophets. We shall have to hear their words and accept them as the Words of God.

Knowing not only the Name of God, but also knowing and believing in His Works, we should tell others about that Magnificent Host of hosts, the God of Armies, shall accomplish in this and the coming world. Let us listen to the words of Isaiah and let them burn into our heart. Let us also put our trust in the seed Jehovah left to the world. Even full of faults, we may trust that seed out of the root of Ruth and king David shall be for us our lifebelt. Preaching and witnessing for Jehovah God, He shall recognise us and not forget us. In Him we may trust.

“ Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.” (Jer 28:2 ASV)

“ And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.” (Ro 9:29 ASV)

Real Christians offer themselves as workers in the field for Christ and his God. They do not trust just themselves without any background or following human beings and human doctrines but go by Biblical doctrines.

“ Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.” (Jas 5:4 ASV)

“ Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:” (Pr 3:5 ASV)

“ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.” (Isa 26:3 ASV)

“ yea, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raiseth the dead:” (2Co 1:9 ASV)

Let us make sure that more people come to know that

Jehovah is the Adonai, the Most High God above all gods, and there is no other.
