Today’s thought “Word of the Only One God – To be read and listened at” (November 21)

In the Daily Bible reading of November the 20th we read how Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month. Because many could not read Ezra himself read from the scroll of Moses’ laws (Nehemiah 8:2) Those who came to listen were old enough to pay attention and to understand. (Nehemiah 8:3)

In the religious leader of the Jews his days Ezra also could find lots of people, like today, who had gone far away from God. At that time God’s people had been taken into exile because they had turned away from God to serve other gods. Today we can find many who did not get a punishment from God, though they too serve other gods or have a godless life.

Today everybody receives opportunities to hear about God or to read himself or herself the Bible, the infallible Word of God. Each person should be able to hear the call of God and should be able to come to know and to love Jehovah God. By hearing and reading the Holy Scriptures each person should be able to find out how to worship God in the way He wants it. God wants everybody to come to love and obey His Law.

It is up to lovers of God to do like Ezra and other prophets and men of God, who in ancient times talked about the Most High God and how we should relate to Him, to make His wonderworks and Plan known. Like when in the ancient times the Word of God was proclaimed, and the people’s hearts were moved, we should move the people in this godless world.

In today’s reading we hear how was called to stand up and bless the Most Highest God for ever and ever! They also were aware that His glorious Name should be exalted above all blessing and praise! (Nehemia 9:5) As in ancient time we too now have to make people to see and understand that there is only place for Only One God. Everybody has come to know that the Most High Elohim is Lord God alone Who has made heaven, the heaven of heavens with all their host, the earth and all things that are therein, the seas and all that is therein; and that it is Him Who preserves them all.

Thou art [a]Jehovah the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham, and foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it unto his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous. {Nehemiah 9:7-8}

From the 9th chapter of Nehemiah we learn that  God is an honest righteous God Who made covenants that he kept.

for you God is always true to His Word. {Nehemiah 9:8}

We also learn from that chapter that God gave right or justified rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments. {Nehemiah 9:13}

13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, 14 and madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses thy servant, {Nehemiah 9:13-14}

Nevertheless all what God had given and done for His people they more than once showed disobedience and rebellion against Him.

28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee; therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies, {Nehemiah 9:28}

That is one of the nice things of God, as soon as He hears people calling back on Him He is willing to listen and to come to help. Many times Jehovah, the Only One True God came to rescue according to His great compassion.

People should come to know that God is just in all that is brought upon us; for He has done right, but man always have done wickedly. {Nehemiah 9:33} Nothing has changed. Today still lots of rulers, kings, officials, and priests, do not keep to the Word and commandments of God. As a result, lots of troubles and badness came unto the world. Today we are again slaves like so many have been slave, even in the land that God gave to our ancestors, in previous times.

We should not be afraid to be slaves or servants, not of this world this time, but of God, so that we by our work for God, witnessing in His Name, can show people the way to God and let them see how there can be lots of fruit and goodness for all who follow the way of God.
