Today’s thought: In the Holiday-time not being lazy for God (Summer 2019)

Today’s thought

Desire that every one shew the same diligence
to the full assurance of hope unto the end

(July 26)

These last few days we had some beautiful weather, with real Summer time temperatures between 31 and 36° C (in some places 39° C) . As man often likes to complain, some people did find it too warm. Others (like me, found it great and having less pain because this year being it also much dryer than usable).

The coming days, July 28 until July31 on the Bible reading table we shall look at Romans 1-8. That shall bring us to look at the son,

” who sprang from the seed of David according to the flesh, but who with power was declared God’s son” (Romans 1:3-4)

After looking at his death, Jesus impaled for our sins and after having spend three days in sheol (hell= the grave) him being taken out of the dead by his heavenly Father, us been given an example of what can happen to us as well, when we believe in that sent one from God. (Matthew 27-28) That great story of Jesus his life and death is no secret any more. There was a people (the Jews) entrusted with the sacred pronouncements of God, but a lot, not to say the majority did not come to see it. The same as today the majority does not come to see that Jesus is the way to God and not God himself. Is this also not perhaps why their lack of faith makes the faithfulness of God without effect ? (Romans 3:3)

“ But if our unrighteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? (I speak after the manner of men.)” (Ro 3:5 ASV)

In the days there is no fear of God before many their eyes, we should fear God and know about the necessity to live according to God’s Rules. We as followers of Christ do know that none are really fully righteous and we all have to work hard to live up to God’s requirements. But we can and should help each other to become like Christ.

“23 for all {1 } have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; {1) Gr sinned }24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God set forth {1 } to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; {1) Or, to be propitiatory }26 for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be {1 } just, and the {1 } justifier of him that {2 } hath faith {3 } in Jesus. {1) See Ro 2:13 margin 2) Gr is of faith 3) Or of } (Ro 3:23-26 ASV)

We believe in the Living God and His sent one. Believing in them gives us reason to rejoice and to feel sure of better things to come.

“ But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that {1 } accompany salvation, though we thus speak: {1) Or belong to } (Heb 6:9 ASV)

Now most people free from work, having their Summer holiday, they should let others know about their hope and their joy.

We also should desire that every one of those around us shall show the same diligence for the full assurance of hope to the end, so that we may not be lazy (not willing to do anything), lying browning (or baking) in the sun. Be it around the swimming pool or in a park or recreation centre, it are places where we can come to talk with people who are there too.  There we should not be afraid to talk about Jesus Christ and his God and the prospect of salvation.

Be not afraid to let others know that you do not mind being an imitator of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

“11 And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the {1 } fulness of hope even to the end: {1) Or full assurance }12 that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” (Heb 6:11-12 ASV)

We’re here to become Christlike. Jesus also demanded his followers to bring the Good News wherever they can.

You may know it is important to read the Scriptures, but have you not forgotten to let others know the Scriptures too?

Are you doing as our prophet asked, and are you willing to do this with real intent?
Whilst you in your free time have now more time to spend in those sacred books, dig into it and chew on it, absorb it, allow it’s nutrients to become part of you, strengthening you.

Reading those words delivered to us by the chosen men of God, when you absorb those words do you think how useful they could be for others as well? Not only pray and ask God to help you become whoever He wants you to become, to be strengthened and nourished by His words, but let Him give you power also to go out and to preach the Gospel.

Now you may have the time and means to bring God’s Word to other people and other places.

Doing the preaching or witnessing, striving to do as God wills, that’s the path to get on. God takes us where we are, remember? He’ll make more of us than we can ever imagine. All He needs is for us to believe, show up, and do the absolute best we can.
