List of some of the important beliefs of the early Christians

The following is a list of some of the important beliefs of the early Christians that we have considered in previous articles.

Many times you could hear others saying that Christadelphians are a cult and do not keep to Christian doctrine or Christology, the Christian reflection, teaching, and doctrine concerning Jesus of Nazareth, concerning a so called incarnation and human and divine natures and their relationship. Though many say that the underlying methodological assumption of Christology is that the New Testament contains the authentic and accurate record of Jesus, both explicitly and implicitly, they prefer to follow human doctrines and like twisting the words of the Bible.

Those trinitarians who like to throw mud at or to blacken the Christadelphians and other non-trinitarians most often are not honest with their view of the Christadelphian community and do not see how the Christadelphians keep to those words underneath in line with the words of the bible.

The faith of the Christadelphians is based entirely on the teaching of God’s Word.

Compare these with what is taught in many churches today:

  • There is only one God the Divine Creator, Who is the Most High of all.
  • God is an all-knowing god, Who is eternal and Who does not tell lies.
  • God gave the world, or sent the world, His only begotten son.
  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
  • Jesus Christ was born, tempted and really died.
  • Jesus Christ spend three days in a tomb, after which he was taken out of the dead, i.e. resurrected.
  • Jesus is authorised by God.
  • Jesus is the mediator between God and man.
  • Jesus is a high priest for God.
  • The Holy Spirit is the power of God.
  • The Bible is the wholly inspired Word of God.
  • Man is mortal and dies because of sin.
  • Resurrection is the true hope of believers.
  • Salvation is only possible through Jesus.
  • There is only one Gospel.
  • The Gospel (or Good News) was preached to Abraham.
  • The Jews are God’s witnesses.
  • The kingdom of Israel was the kingdom of God in the past.
  • Jesus will return to re-establish the kingdom of God on earth.
  • Jesus will be king over the kingdom of God.
  • The reward of the righteous will be eternal life to be enjoyed on earth.

You should compare the bible sayings with what we believe and check if we do believe something differently than is demanded to be believed.

Look also at our way of life and see if we are living in accordance to God His Wishes. Christadelphians namely try to live according to the Guidance from the Holy Scriptures, the Old and the New Testament.

Christadelphians do believe that through the law we become conscious of our sin and that each individual has to work on it to come to live according to the Will and the commandments of God. We also believe that by the Grace of God righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe in the sent one from God who was given to the world according to God’s timing.

“ but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,” (Ga 4:4 ASV)

“ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.” (Joh 5:24 ASV)

“ And without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that seek after him.” (Heb 11:6 ASV)

“21 But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith {1 } in Jesus Christ unto all {2 } them that believe; for there is no distinction; {1) Or of 2) Some ancient authorities add and upon all } (Ro 3:21-22 ASV)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but {1 } by me. {1) Or through } (Joh 14:6 ASV)

“ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,” (Ga 5:22 ASV)

Those who love God and accept His sent one, Jesus Christ as God’s anointed, the sent one who put his own will aside to do the will of his heavenly Father, the Only One True God, shall live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Therefore they shall not sow hatred or tell lies about others, but shall try to share the love of Christ, showing them how Jesus is the way to God.

In conclusion we urge you to consider the sound advice of the Apostle Paul addressed to Timothy but so relevant to Christ’s true followers in every age:

‘…continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.‘ (2 Timothy 3.14,15)
