“let’s be examples of disciples who spread the word about their Master”
(May 17)

Being “conversed” to put the old self (our previous or old life) away, having stripped off the old human nature, and having taken on the new self (by our new birth), we try to put any anger, rage, wickedness, blasphemy, racism, and stupidity, dirty talk coming out of our mouth or any bad thoughts away. (Colossians 3:8-9) Now we can come to the point to conduct ourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunities, having our speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that we may know how we should answer everyone. (Colossians 4:5-6)

Now having become Christian, belonging to the new chosen ones we should become imitators of the apostles, the chosen disciples of Christ Jesus and an imitator of Christ, when you received the message with joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, despite great affliction. We have come in a time where our confidence in our Lord Jeshua Christ is enduring. In spite of a lot of suffering, we welcomed God’s word with the kind of joy that the Holy Spirit gives.

⁵We know this because the Good News we brought came to you not only with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with complete certainty. In the same way you know what kind of people we were while we were with you and the good things we did for you.

⁶You imitated us and the Lord. In spite of a lot of suffering, you welcomed God’s word with the kind of joy that the Holy Spirit gives. ⁷This way, you became a model for all the believers in the province of Macedonia and Greece. (1 Thessalonians 1:5-7 Names of God Bible)

The Thessalonians were good examples for people to follow because of the way they followed their Lord, because their faith was strong even against strong opposition, and they were active in sharing the word.

We, who want to be followers of Christ Jesus, should also examine ourselves, questioning if we too are able to be worthy followers of Christ and to be a good example. Having been filled with the words of the master teacher Jeshua and having the Words of his heavenly Father, the Only One True God, been “baked in our heart”, we should each day again strengthen our faith through prayer and reading God’s word so that we may stand firm against any opposition that comes our way. And let’s be examples of disciples who spread the word about their Master. Let’s be model believers so that those who see us know what living a Christ-like life is all about.
