This weekend, on Saturday February the 11th more than 350 Christadelphians active in the spreading of the Word of God came together in the Moseley School, Wake Green Road, Moseley, Birmingham, for the Christadelphian Auxiliary Lecturing Society (CALS) Campaigns Committee its organisation of the Campaigners’ Fraternal Gathering.
It was lovely to see so many people from different age groups being gathered to exchange ideas and to listen to some talks about “The Lord gave the Word”.
In the afternoon Bro. Nicholas White (from Pershore) gave the first talk “The glory of the Lord shall be revealed”. Bro. Tim Morgan (from Ashton) presented the 2nd talk “Behold the Lamb of God”.
Between the afternoon and evening meeting we had time to go along the different stands and stalls, promoting a wide range of organisation, activities and items for sale in the Brotherhood. There the need was also expressed for missionaries wanting to come in Russia and India.
In the afternoon were given the Campaign Secretary’s report and CALS update, whilst at the evening session an information session was given about the Positive Preaching Day, which was held on November 19, 2016, at Solihull and Southport (via link) and was designed as an informal and fastmoving kaleidoscope of preaching reports and ideas. Although we may sometimes struggle to tell people about the Truth, we should always remember that it is the Truth, it is the word of God so we can be confident in it when we tell people of its message.
There was also looked at a couple of Prepare to Preach (P2P) style workshops which took place that day, with feedback from Campaigns 2016, and the session on how to organise and run a Campaign, plus its plenty of opportunities to share our own ideas about preaching with one another.
“If God be for us, who can be against us?” was the closing talk by Bro. Kitson Reid (from Acocks Green) who sent us into the evening making us very pleased to have been present at this lively gathering.
Once again this proved to be a terrific opportunity to catch up with old friends, exchange ideas, to find hidden treasures in God’s word, to find out about the campaigns for the following year, and to join with hundreds of others in praise to our Father.
We having come from Belgium (thanks to our safe driver Steve Robinson) first visited Newbury, then Birmingham to be present the next day, after a very beautiful country site trip, at the sympathetic ecclesia of Peterborough where Bro. Chris Edwards gave a lovely exhortation about our nature and our nurturing, comparing very well the situation of sportsman and artists, their talents and our own capacities and our aim to finish the race or reaching the goal.
