The 1st Adam in the Hebrew Scriptures #7 Promise and solution

We have seen how God created out of the chaos and ordered universe in which He placed carnal creatures. In His Kingdom He had His Royal Garden where He placed human beings with a free will.

Jehovah the divine Maker God set out to create a perfect creation but alas the very workmanship of His hands, by unaccountable means has risen up against Him. Man took adversary against God and as such wanted to escape His influence. God expresses emphasis concerning the fact that man had wanted to become like Him and became like Him knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:22).

Eve had allowed her mind to question God and temptation grabbed her heart and deceit seemed truthful in a moment. When she came to eat from the Tree of conscious Eve allowed shame to be stronger than confidence. She had allowed lies to settle in deeper than the truth. In that moment doubt was stronger than her very vision of God Who she knew very well had created her and her partner.

In the past lots of people have debated over that ‘Original Sin‘ and often overlooked that those first human creatures were given the free will by their Maker and could have made any (better) choice. It is not that the sin of them came unto us, but all descendants from Adam and Eve came under the spell, having been born out of that Garden of Eden. God namely had cursed them out of His Royal garden because they did not show remorse and blamed some one else for what they had done wrong. they themselves had chosen not to follow God’s Command but to take an other track, the wrong path. Because Adam choose to listen more to his companionship, instead of listening to God His commandment, he also got punished.

17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

“Cursed is the groundh because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

The first formed one of the human beings was Adam, who got a companion after he had felt lonely. The presence of God and all other creatures had not seemed enough. After he got his partner, she temped him wend with her he now had to live outside that beautiful garden. Because she would be the beginning of many generations of human living beings he called her Eve.

20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. {The New International Version. The one who had received the breath of life from God, man became ‘enthroned’ when he was ‘cast out’ or ‘driven out’. When Adam and Eve did not straightly confessed what they really had done and did not repent at the spot, God took action and showed clearly how He did not like their adversary against Him. That action and any action against God we now call sin. As such, the first sin happened and we now can see the effects of it.

God looked at those two beings who now felt shame, and said to the woman.

13 … Why hast thou done this? And the woman said, 1The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. {*}

Whereupon God said to His adversary, who is symbolised by the serpent:

14 … Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field: upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
15 I will also put enmity between 1thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. He shall break thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. {*}

Here we come to hear that God, in a certain way, feels with man. He also tells us that there would come a time that there would come a battle between seed of that woman (a descendant from Eve) and the adversary of God. In this paragraph we come to find the reason of the gospel. Namely in the Garden of Eden God brings His first promise of a solution against the act of Adam and Eve and its consequences.

Hostility or enmity, was the act of Adam and Eve which expressed enmity or opposition and can be understood as mutual hatred or ill will which came between the Divine Maker and His creation. Today too still many do not understand the meaning of what God said before and after that act. Lots of Christians still not come to see what the Word spoken meant or means.

When God brought His Will forwards, let His mind ponder, and when He spoke, the Words He spoke came into existence. Every little atom, every molecule, every enzyme, all those science words, formed perfectly from His thoughts. Nature as we know it is not an accident. It did not all tumble together mindlessly. It is too intricate and detailed to be innocent of a creator.

Adam and Eve knew God knows everything, and that He created everything. But they were convinced He kept things hidden from them. Adam should have known the Word and known Who The Bringer of that Word was as well who he, the man from dust taken, was and where he could be positioned in all the handiwork of that Divine Creator. Man was made perfect, Man was able to be perfectly obedient. Though man made an other choice which brought the relationship between him and his creator in bad light. Adam had the power to keep that law of the covenant of works and he was righteous by nature without any blemish within him. He was perfect. Though now having proven he could not keep God’s Law it was as if man would not be able to keep the commandments of God. But having such an idea would make God into a cruel Being, having made human beings and demanding of them something He knew they could not keep. God gave them the free will and allowed them to choose freely.

Out of love God is willing to give man a second chance. He wants the world or the adversary of God (satan or devil) to know that it is possible for man to do the Will of God. As before, from the beginning of man, there was the promise ‘do this and live’ and a threat ‘ thou shalt die the death’. Mankind had to know they would face death, since it had taken adversary to God.

But though man would die, God provided there in the Royal Garden a solution against that curse of death. That Word spoken to Adam and Eve is the promise for all mankind about the apostle John is talking many centuries later. In the same way Moses wrote about the beginning of the world (the Bereshith) the apostle John comes to understand that God in the Garden of Eden predicted the beginning of a new world where there would be a restored relationship between God and man.

Wisdom 1:    7      Because the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said,
8      therefore those who utter unrighteous things will not escape notice, and justice, when it punishes, will not pass them by.
9      For inquiry will be made into the counsels of the ungodly, and a report of their words will come to the Lord,
to convict them of their lawless deeds;
10      because a jealous ear hears all things, and the sound of grumbling does not go unheard.

The world has to know that God’s Spirit, His eternal Being fills the whole world and it is His Word that resounds over it and makes or breaks. He that listens to Him would not have any problem but those who do not want to listen to what is best for them shall have to bear the consequences and shall have to face divine punishment. The punishment from God that was given to Adam and Eve came over us because we are their descendants and were born out of the royal Garden or out of the Kingdom of God. We do have to find our way in to that Kingdom of God again.

For all descendants of Adam and Eve born outside the Garden of Eden, God provided a way to enter the Kingdom again and to live again in harmony with God and His creation. In the garden of Eden He spoke and as such His Word sounded. His Voice uttered a promise of a seed to come. That seed would come out of Eve and out out Abraham.

The seed of adversary or what grow out of eve taking a wrong decision was going to grow. God knew it would not stay with one mishap. Many descendants of Eve also would make the wrong choice and follow their bad thoughts. Lots of people would come to do wrong acts, going against the Wil of God and as such sinning. But one of the seeds would call a halt to it and would proof that man can fulfil the Wish of God or the Royal Law. By not doing his own will but by keep doing the Will of God that man would become the new Adam or 2° Adam, the first man of the new earth or new world.

In the opening of the apostle John his gospel, the writer refers to the words spoken at the beginning which brought everything into being and the words spoken in the Garden of Eden to Adam and Eve which spoke about a solution by the Word of God spoken becoming flesh again. After a first Adam there was to come a second Adam, a man of flesh and blood who was going to proof to mankind that God His demands are not so difficult to keep to.

Though that seed or man would not have it easy, because he would be hit.

Adam and Eve though having come from God made an other choice, but those who came from their children could again make their own choice. They too could choose to sin or not to go wrong. But from the beginning that Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden there was sin and only those who would give themselves fully to God keeping to His commandments could be considered coming from God or being children of God. Those who go wrong are considered being of the devil or from evil.

1 John 3: 8 He that commiteth sin, is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning: for this purpose was made manifest that Son of God, that he might loose the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God sinneth not: for his seed remaineth in him, neither can he sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this are the children of God known, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, 2neither he that loveth not his brother. {*}

From the disobedience of Adam and Eve sin entered the world. That trespass of Adam and Eve caused death to enter their world, because that was the curse God brought over man.

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for 1in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt die the death.

Genesis 3: 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth: for out of it wast thou taken,
because thou art dust, and to dust shalt thou return.

Romans 5: 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death went over
all men: in whom all men have sinned.

So by the one man (the first Adam) sin entered the world, by the fulfilment of God’s promise in the Garden of Eden there was the death as payment for sin, but now also God’s Gift (which is the greatest gift we may receive) of a new opportunity, again a life without an ending.

Romans 6: 23 1For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 15: 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Jesus Christ was going to be that sent one from God, able to do God His Will, putting his own will aside. In Christ mankind is able to find life again. By putting faith in Christ Jesus man can find the way to God and His Kingdom.
