Cambodia: A land where the Gospel is taking root

Cambodia is a relatively new area of preaching with the first baptism occurring almost a decade ago.
Since then, preaching of the Gospel has resulted in over 65 baptisms. Although Buddhism is the
dominant religion, the country now enjoys religious freedom and the relatively young population is
receptive to learning about Christianity, particularly if taught by a Westerner.

Cambodia is home to two Bible Education Centers, one in the capital of Phnom Penh and the other in
the coastal city of Sihanoukville. These BECs host regular Bible classes and become a center of ecclesial
activity. In Phnom Penh, the BEC also serves as an ecclesial hall and fieldworker hostel.
These two BECs employ seven brothers and sisters who manage the facilities and participate in teaching, translating, cooking, maintenance and student liaison. In addition, the goal is to maintain six full time missionaries at the two BECs subject to
volunteer availability and funding.

An annual Bible School is held in Phnom Penh and is supported by the four ecclesias in the country as well as by visiting brethren from elsewhere in Southeast Asia. But Cambodia is a relatively poor country and the local brothers and sisters do not
have the financial resources to support the BECs and the preaching programs.

To fund this work, WCF has made a pledge of $60,000 per annum for the next three years to enable the Asian-Pacific Christadelphian Bible Mission the ability to plan future preaching initiatives with secured funding.
