Believing in the send one and understanding that one does not live by bread alone

In this world many are not interested in God. Others are but make their own god. In the Christian world there are many who prefer to keep to human dogma‘s instead of taking the words of the bible for what they say and mean.

Today there are still lots of Christians who do not want to know what a spirit is and who Jesus really is and what he really has done. they still are like unbelieving Thomas who had to lay his hands in the wounds of his master teacher. In case Jesus was God he naturally could not have done that, because God is a spirit, which means He has no bones and no flesh, but Christ was a real man of flesh and blood and bones. His bones were not broken but he was really killed by impalement. Many could witness that and after he had died and was put in his grave to be in hell for three days, many saw him alive again and could see the wounds of his impalement.

“{1} God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth. {1) Or [God is spirit]}” (John 4:24 ASV)

God is an eternal Spirit, which means He has no beginning, no birth and cannot die. Most Christians also do forget this and that the Bible tells us that nobody is able to see God and live, though many could see Jesus and did not fall death, the opposite some even came back to live.

“And he {Jehovah God} said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live.” (Exodus 33:20 ASV)

The Word of God tells us about the one who God gave the world and would be a light for many. Though that man

“He was not the light, but [came] that he might bear witness of the light.” (John 1:8 ASV)

He came to make clear to the world Who the Divine Creator is and what He wants from His creation, mankind. He only wanted to do the Will of God, and not his will, to give what no man ever had given to another, namely real peace and life. those who say to love Jesus should really accept his words and the words of his heavenly Father, knowing that Jesus never claimed to be God,but knew very well that God is much greater than him and that he could do nothing without his heavenly Father the God of Abraham, Who is One.

“27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. 28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe. 30 I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world cometh: and he hath nothing {1} in me; {1) Or [in me. But that…I do, arise etc]} 31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.” (John 14:27-31 ASV)

“17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh even until now, and I work. 18 For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doeth, these the Son also doeth in like manner. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and greater works than these will he show him, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth the dead and giveth them life, even so the Son also giveth life to whom he will. 22 For neither doth the Father judge any man, but he hath given all judgment unto the Son; 23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son honoreth not the Father that sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that {1} hear shall live. {1) Or [hearken]} 26 For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself: 27 and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man.” (John 5:17-27 ASV)

Let us when we look at Jesus remember that his heavenly Father is the Greatest and is the One and Only One Who we have to worship. We should honour that God Who accepted the ransom offering by Jesus who always kept to God’s entire commandments. Like Jesus observed them we must diligently observe them, so that we may live and increase. And let us understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Most High God, the Elohim Hashem Jehovah,which we should believe. God has given his only begotten beloved son so that we can have the most precious gift of the world, life.

“1 All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not. 3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.” (Deuteronomy 8:1-3 ASV)

“Know then in your hearts that …”

All 5 chapters today challenge us – in our hearts: reading God’s word should, indeed must, cause a valuable degree of conscience searching! Moses final exhortation is dynamic! BUT, only if we read it in the right frame of mind. It includes the words Jesus quoted when he was tempted (read this as ‘tested’ in the wilderness)

“… that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD … Know then in your heart that …” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Moses earnestly counsels that when they have reached and settled in the promised land to

“beware lest you say in your heart, ‘my power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth’. You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth … if you forget the LORD your God … I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish” (verses 17-19).

It is essential that we all reflect on our situation; and that all our trials and our blessings have – and will – come from God, recognising that he (and now also his Son, our mediator) oversee our lives as he did the lives of his nation as they travelled through the wilderness.

Our final chapter in John includes Jesus’ words to Peter

“to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God” (verse 19).

He now had a strong mind and was ready to

“be faithful unto death”.

In chapter 20 we have Jesus’ words to Thomas who had been absent when Jesus appeared to the other disciples and is often called ‘doubting Thomas’ because he would not believe the excited testimony of his fellow disciples that

“we have seen the Lord” (verse 25).

Jesus tells Thomas to

“put your finger here, and see my hands; and put your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe” (verse 27).

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” (verse 29).

This 20th chapter ends with some very telling verses,

“Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book, but these are written so that you may believe … and that by believing you may have life in his name”.

This gives us a purposeful and meaningful life and will, when Jesus returns, lead to an existence for eternity in his kingdom, which is far beyond our ability at present to comprehend.

Jesus knew that he trusted God no matter what his story will be in the future. In today’s time we tend to doubt God’s plan (I know that I do) and sometimes we try to change our destiny by bargaining God, but in the end, we know that he knows our beginning and he knows our end.

We all have new lives in Christ Jesus, but we need to take new ground, a ground where we leave our fears and doubts don’t hold us back.. The reason we can leave our fears and doubts behind is ’The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Fears and doubts can destroy plans, and fears and doubts had held back the people Moses was leading, once, from taking all that was promised to them. God has plans for us all, Jeremiah 29 verse 11: And He calling us to accept the plans He has for our lives.

So what Our Lord and Our Friend is telling us, We can be scared and afraid and wonder if we are doing the right things, But we can be strong and courageous, because He is with us, and our strength comes from Him.

Studies have proven that the more frequently we express gratitude and give thanks for everything, the more we can decrease stress and increase our feeling of belonging.

Additionally, we have experienced that we are happier, more optimistic about life itself and we have better and healthier relationships as we live out and practice gratitude.

If today was the beginning of his final week on earth, I wonder if Jesus would respond in a similar manner. How much compassion would be displayed? What anger would be demonstrated and where else beside the temple would Jesus target? Although its just a hunch, I believe Jesus would go into the house of saints, throwing idols off their shelves, trying to purge believers from their worldly ways. After this visit, Christians must decide for themselves, relying on freewill to determine, “who will I follow?”

Your priesthood is from God and is meant to glorify the Lord. So bless the children you have in the name of Jesus. Pray the Numbers 6:24-26 prayer over them. It might sound old fashioned but its worth every bit to pray over children and along with them for their success in life. A preacher too must pray the blessing of God over his congregation so that as they walk out after the worship service they continue to revel in the presence of the Lord God and remember that true and everlasting sucess comes from God alone.

The one who comes in the name of the Lord is the person who comes with the Lord’s authority to bring about the Lord’s will on earth. The one who comes in the name of the Lord comes to accomplish the will of the Lord.

We also misunderstand what it means that Jesus has come in the name of the Lord. He comes into our midst in the Lord’s name to give us freedom and victory. We keep thinking that means He will give Christians glory and honor in this world, or that He will deliver us from suffering and humiliation. We think that Jesus has come in the Name of the Lord to do our will. He has not. He has come to accomplish the will of God. The will of God is not to deliver us from all suffering or that His church have this world’s glory and praise. The will of God is that we be set free from slavery to sin.

Sometimes I wonder, if Jesus took my hand, that maybe he’d be more likely to take me under. Immersed. My experience of God is so surface so much of the time. For me I think the invitation is not so much to walk on the water as it is to become submerged in God.

Revelation 3:20 paints a haunting image. In a rebuke of the church it notes “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”. Instead of being inside, at the center, Jesus is outside knocking for anyone to hear His voice and open the door. And, yet, even then – He knocks!
