Sorts of prayer

Prayers may be very short. It is not that when we make them lengthy or complicated that they would be more successful. God’s response isn’t dependent on your “much speaking” (Matthew 6:7), or length of time you spent praying. God knows your heart and knows what you need. As loving Father He himself will strengthen you to the end as long as you are willing to believe in Him and walk in His Ways. Important is it that at the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ you may be found blameless. When we do keep faith in the Most High Elohim, no matter which good words we use to speak with Him, He will not fail us.

“(8) Who shall also confirm you to the end, unreprovable in the day of our Master יהושע {Jeshua} Messiah. (9) Elohim is trustworthy, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, יהושע {Jeshua} Messiah our Master.” (1 Corinthians 1:8-9 The Scriptures 1998+)

The more we trust and believe in God the more we seem to be able to see his works around us and also the more our eyes are open to the gifts he has already laid around us that we have overlooked or could not see before. Having the faith we should be obliged to show the works of faith. One of the demands of Christ was to go out into the world, let others to know the Works of God and to worship the Heavenly Father in union.

Coming together in the ecclesia we can show not only to the world our fellowship i.e. union with God His Son Jesus Christ. We were called into companionship and participation with Jesus Christ our Master Teacher, the Messiah who has become the mediator between God and men. The apostle Paul tells that they who are united to Christ should be united to one another and to abstain from strife and party spirit. As united in Christ those followers of Christ can show their unity and when asking in agreement for the same things they will be able to see the fulfilment of their request in Jesus’ name.

God His promises may be relied upon and we can find benefit in our prayers or effects to the good when we walk in the knowledge of our righteousness in Christ Jesus. This is the beauty of prayer. The (insistent) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working. It will be powerfully effective.

“(15) And the prayer of the belief shall save the sick, and the Master shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he shall be forgiven. (16) Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, so that you are healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous one accomplishes much.” (James 5:15-16 The Scriptures 1998+)

God will hear those who love His son and Him and will be willing to come to them, offering what they need.

“(14) And this is the boldness that we have in Him, that if we ask whatever according to His desire, He hears us. (15) And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” (Epistle 1 John 5:14-15 The Scriptures 1998+)

“(7) “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you. (8) “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened. (9) “Or is there a man among you who, if his son asks for bread, shall give him a stone? (10) “Or if he asks for a fish, shall he give him a snake? (11) “If you then, being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in the heavens give what is good to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:7-11 The Scriptures 1998+)

(11) “And what father among you whose son asks for bread shall give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish shall give him a snake instead of a fish, (12) or if he asks for an egg shall give him a scorpion? (13) “If you then, being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father from heaven give the Set-apart Spirit to those asking Him!”” (Luke 11:9-13 The Scriptures 1998+)

“(19) “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning any matter that they ask, it shall be done for them by My Father in the heavens.” (Matthew 18:19 The Scriptures 1998+)

From the above we may understand that not every man’s prayer is effective but that the prayer of the Righteous Man shall be heard by the Father and will be answered appropriate according to the Wish and Will of the Most High Elohim Hashem Jehovah! Such a prayer shall make tremendous power available.

Unanswered Prayer (challies.com)
God’s people wanted deliverance from oppression. They wanted a Messiah. They wanted a Savior. Then that Messiah came. That Messiah told them that he was there to deliver them. That Messiah triumphantly entered Jerusalem as the prophecies had foretold. And then that Messiah was brutally murdered.

When we pray, and pray earnestly, and praying desiring God’s glory and fame, we know that he will answer and will give what we desire most. But we need to be patient. Like the disciples, we need to look to past, present and future with eyes of faith, trusting that in time everything will become clear.

Let’s honor God by following His order. Let’s get built up. Let’s grow up and unify in the faith. Let’s seek to accomplish God’s will and advance His agenda…His way. When God names himself, it does not only describe who he is but it also reveals what he intends to do. When the Lord reveals himself to us, as we open ourselves to God, it allows us to know Him- his character, love, purpose, mission, and even his power. Knowing Him allows us to strengthen our faith and put our trust in Him. “And those who know your name put their trust in you.” (Psalm 9:10)

Did you know that there is a common misconception among people that says that a person can be saved and yet not be a Christian? May I say with all humility that this is a very dangerous philosophy to espouse. The belief is, that being saved simply means to trust Christ as your savior. On the other hand to be a Christian means that you follow Christ and live for Him. I have people tell me this very often and I have become convinced that the majority of people who believe this idea have never truly been born again. May I say this dogmatically and without hesitation. When a person truly believes on Christ as his Savior, he then and there becomes a Christian; and then and there that person begins a new life of following Christ. The Bible teaches that “if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new” (II Corinthians 5:17). There are many people who have deceived themselves into believing that they are saved when in reality they are not!

Paul has a ‘rocking’ prayer life. The church of Ephesus would have swelled on the spot with such an amazing prayer. I have to believe that sometimes preaching and worship isn’t enough. There is a need for intercessory prayer instead.

There are written prayers which are used mainly in formal worship services at church and home. These are good in themselves if you do them in faith and without any legalism. Traditionally written prayers were used when there has been increase in heresies that come against the church and a carefully discerned morally right prayer is needed to be followed by all. There are fixed formulas which still persist even in free praying churches especially when it comes to marriages and funerals which are usually not changed due to the need to keep uniformity. Then we have spontaneous prayers.

Imagine that just your prayers resulted in a person, hundreds or even thousands of people being saved from Hell– instead spending eternity with Jesus. Imagine that just your prayers prevented a death of a relative from a traffic accident. Imagine just your prayers resulted in a doctor coming up with a medical treatment that helped bring healing to someone close to you. Imagine that an entire neighborhood that was ravaged by evil people, gangs, drugs, etc., was transformed into a wonderful community to live in by just your prayers.

The prayer of Jesus in today’s Gospel reading can apply to any relationship: any two people, any community. Whatever God has joined is sacred. It’s sacred because it’s a reflection of who God is and how much he loves everyone. This is why marriage is meant to be a sacrament instead of just a civil bond or the incomplete bond of living together like a marriage without the vows.
Lack of commitment and unhealed wounds in any divinely inspired relationship give the world a sick and faulty image of Christ.

there are a few examples of prayer from Jesus Christ made to His Father God which are so intimate and very stirring. One of those can be found in the entire chapter of (John 17). I call it “The Other Lord’s Prayer.”

Jesus offers a prayer for the disciples, those whom the Lord God had given to Jesus. Here, Jesus prays that the Father will help them to be successful as they deliver the message of the cross to others. He also asks for protection from the world for them as they will face much persecution.
