The other name

To speak directly to the Son, in the manner of some churches, is not honouring to him, because he has instructed that we should approach the Father. On the other hand to ignore the Son in our approach to God is also not honouring to the Father, because it is recorded that “he that honoureth the Son honoureth the Father also.” We should respect the instruction of Jeshua/Jesus to direct our prayers to God in his name.

Christ came to draw away the thick veil which the inborn corruption of the human heart and the accumulated sins and falsehoods of centuries had interposed between man and God. We cannot enter into the Fatherly character of God without being animated by the same Spirit that animated His well-beloved Son, Jesus. The later books of the Holy Scriptures which we call the New Testament show us that we must become like Christ. We should also be willing not to do our own will, like Christ did not his own will, but the Will of God. Jeshua looked onto the others around him as his brothers and sisters. We too must be very brothers of Christ, if we would claim His Father as our Father. Our approach to God as a brother or sister in Christ and as such also as a child of God in that way testifies to the reality of our claim that we are ‘sons of God‘. No proper approach, no real son-ship, is possible without that “spirit” which lets us call the Most High Creator “Our Father“.

Accepting Christ Jesus to be the son of God, and not ‘god the son‘ we do give the full value to that Nazarene man who gave his life at the stake for the sins of many. By believing and accepting that he really gave his life for us and was made higher than angels by his Father and taken at God His right hand to become a mediator between men and God, we should know that it is in that position that Jesus as our ‘brother‘ also shall be able to speak for us. Jesus is the ground or basis of the security of the New Covenant, and as such we should trust in him as the best placed person to mediate for us.

(15) And because of this He is the Mediator of a renewed covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those who are called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15 The Scriptures 1998+)

Jesus had promised that God would send a helper and we could see that the apostles received that Holy Spirit. We can see that the Spirit-word is an advocate on earth, helping to prepare our case for preparation in heaven. However, that case, when prepared, must be presented through our heavenly advocate or mediator: the Lord Jesus Christ.

(1) First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all men, (2) for sovereigns and all those who are in authority, in order that we lead a calm and peaceable life in all reverence and seriousness. (3) For this is good and acceptable before Elohim our Saviour, (4) who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (5) For there is one Elohim,^{1} and one Mediator between Elohim and men, the Man Messiah יהושע, {Footnote: ¹1 Cor. 8:6, Eph. 4:6, Mk. 12:29-34}. (6) who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be witnessed in its own seasons, (7) for which I was appointed a proclaimer and an emissary – I am speaking the truth in Messiah and not lying – a teacher of the gentiles in belief and truth. (8) So I resolve that the men pray everywhere, lifting up hands that are set-apart, without wrath and disputing. (1Ti 2:1-8 The Scriptures 1998+)

(1) For this Malkitseḏeq, sovereign of Shalĕm, priest of the Most High Elohim, who met Aḇraham returning from the slaughter of the sovereigns and blessed him, (2) to whom also Aḇraham gave a tenth part of all, his name being translated, indeed, first, ‘sovereign of righteousness,’ and then also sovereign of Shalĕm, that is, ‘sovereign of peace,’ (3) without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but having been made like the Son of Elohim, remains a priest for all time. (Hebrews 7:1-3 The Scriptures 1998+)

(14) For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood, (15) and this is clearer still, if another priest arises in the likeness of Malkitseḏeq, (16) who has become, not according to the Torah of fleshly command, but according to the power of an endless life, (17) for He does witness, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Malkitseḏeq.” (18) For there is indeed a setting aside of the former command because of its weakness and unprofitableness, (19) for the Torah perfected naught, but the bringing in of a better expectation, through which we draw near to Elohim. (20) And it was not without an oath! (21) For they indeed became priests without an oath, but He became Priest with an oath by Him who said to Him, “יהוה {Jehovah} has sworn and shall not regret, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Malkitseḏeq.’ ” (22) By as much as this יהושע {Jeshua} has become a guarantor of a better covenant. (23) And indeed, those that became priests were many, because they were prevented by death from continuing, (24) but He, because He remains forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. (25) Therefore He is also able to save completely those who draw near to Elohim through Him, ever living to make intercession for them. (26) For it was fitting that we should have such a High Priest – kind, innocent, undefiled, having been separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens, (27) who does not need, as those high priests, to offer up slaughter offerings day by day, first for His own sins and then for those of the people, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. (28) For the Torah appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the Torah, appoints the Son having been perfected forever. (Hebrews 7:14-28 The Scriptures 1998+)

(16) For where a covenant is, it is necessary for the death of the covenanted one to be established. (17) For a covenant over those dead is firm, since it is never valid while the covenanted one is living. (18) Therefore not even the first covenant was instituted without blood. (19) For when, according to Torah, every command had been spoken by Mosheh to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, (20) saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which Elohim commanded you.” (21) And in the same way he sprinkled with blood both the Tent and all the vessels of the service. (22) And, according to the Torah, almost all is cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (23) It was necessary, then, that the copies of the heavenly ones should be cleansed with these, but the heavenly ones themselves with better slaughter offerings than these. (24) For Messiah has not entered into a Set-apart Place made by hand – figures of the true – but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of Elohim on our behalf, (25) not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters into the Set-apart Place year by year with blood not his own. (26) For if so, He would have had to suffer often, since the foundation of the world. But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the offering of Himself. (27) And as it awaits men to die once, and after this the judgment, (28) so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to those waiting for Him, unto deliverance. (Hebrews 9:16-28 The Scriptures 1998+)

We should believe that Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence, not of himself but of יהוה Jehovah God for us. (Hebrews 9:24).
Prayer, therefore, should be directed to the Father through the Son, who are in one spirit, i.e. of the same idea. Both are united like we also should be united with our parents and with our brethren and sisters.

(10) “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself. But the Father who stays in Me does His works. (11) “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, otherwise believe Me because of the works themselves. (12) “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also. And greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father. (13) “And whatever you ask in My Name, that I shall do, in order that the Father might be esteemed in the Son. (14) “If you ask whatever in My Name, I shall do it. (15) “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.^{1} {Footnote: ¹See Ex. 20:6, vv. 21&23, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John v. 6.} (16) “And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper, to stay with you forever – (17) the Spirit of the Truth, whom the world is unable to receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. (1) My little children, I write this to you, so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Intercessor with the Father, יהושע {Jeshua} Messiah, a righteous One. (2) And He Himself is an atoning offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world. (3) And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands.^{1} {Footnote: ¹See 3:6.} (4) The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (5) But whoever guards His Word, truly the love of Elohim has been perfected^{1} in him. We not only should come like יהושע Christ and try to become holy or set-apart. When we pray like Jesus did, we also should present our prayers to the person Jesus prayed to. Also other god-loving people addressed themselves to the Most High in the same manner Jesus did.

Notice the way in which the Father is addressed by men and women of faith:

“He that keepeth covenant and mercy with those that put their trust in Him;” “The Father of mercies;” “The Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob;” “The God of all comfort;” “The God of love and peace;” “The God of patience;” “Our Father Who art in heaven.”

Notice how the prayers of the ancients ascribe glory unto Jehovah the Creator, present their petitions unto Him, speak of His past acts of deliverance and power, submit to His direction and guidance.

But with Christ Jesus we do have the promise of God fulfilled and a Saviour in whose name we can ask things at his Father. And whatsoever we shall ask in Jesus his name, that will be done or brought to fulfilment by Jesus so that the Father may be glorified in the son. Therefore when we pray to Jehovah and ask Him things we firstly should use the Name of God (Jehovah) and then can use the name of the Messiah Jesus Christ (Jeshua) so that it will be done. Honouring the Name of the Most High we also should respect Jesus to be the son of God, the man who could sin but did not, and dare to ask Jehovah in the name of Jesus to come close to us and to make our wishes come true.

Though we know we are sinners we can trust that man who did not sin and whom God was willing to give a higher position in heaven, so that we now have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 2:1).

the end or purpose of Lazarus’ sickness is that God may be glorified in the glorification of Jesus Christ. When Jesus and his disciples finally arrived, Lazarus had been dead and in the tomb for four days. This is highly significant because of Jewish thought. At that time, there was a Jewish superstition that when someone died, the spirit of that person hovers over their body for up to three days, after which no resurrection or resuscitation would be possible. So, when Jesus arrives at Lazarus’ tomb after four days, there would be no question that any resurrection would be divine.
(Cd remark: It is not the godhead of Christ or Jesus’ deity that is been demonstrated but it is the Father of Jesus His glory which has been on full display. Death does not have the last word. God has the last word but by Jesus it was made possible to come out of the dead.)

Strangely enough in the article Denying Christ? the author himself (matthew24prophecy.wordpress.com) denies the position of Christ Jesus and minimises the deed Jesus presented to his Father, his and our God, Who is the only One True God, Creator of heaven and earth.
Also Why did God Become a Man? Part III- To Make us His Children (tableprepared.wordpress.com) does not want to recognise the full activity of God His son. He also does not seem to think God created us from the beginning or did not want to look at us as His children, because he considers God first had to become a human being before we could be children of God. By giving that impression it ridicules the power of God and would indicate God would be an unloving Father, preferring to let us suffer for ages before willing to take us and protect us as His children.

My friends, don’t back away from the call to pray. Don’t ignore that urgency just because the time is not right for you. You may not understand what is happening somewhere else, in the natural or in the spirit realm, and your prayers are extremely vital in that moment. Don’t resist that call to pray just because you don’t understand what needs prayer. You would be very surprised to know that what may seem unimportant to you is priority to God. It is so important to abide in Christ and put your joy in him alone. Once you rely on Christ for your joy, it comes easily, but once you rely on worldly things for that same level of joy, everything goes wrong. Initially things might seem better and all good but once something goes wrong, everything crumbles and you have nothing to fall on. All these and more has been the cause of confusion, indifference and taking into liberties, posterity, subsequent to the early apostles in history, face in regards to the true definition of Christianity. They succeeded in making people to see God through the lens of denominational-ism, creed, human doctrine, sacraments and ceremonial rituals.

The word ‘Christ’/ ‘ian’ is a two syllable word coined from two different words: Christ and ‘ianos.’ The Greek suffix ‘ianos’ is applied mainly to bond slaves. It implies being an adherent of an individual or group. In a more simplified meaning, a Christian is an adherent and a slave of Christ. A Christian is any one Committed to follow Christ all the way through. If a ‘Christian’ is a follower of Jesus Christ, He must follow him in the right way as proffered by the Holy Scriptures via the Holy Spirit. Note carefully, religion was not present in the definition of Christianity. It did not say being an adherent of religion. If that’s true, it would have been ‘Religionian’ and not ‘Christian.’

Just as Israel needed a conqueror (and found one in Joshua), we too need a conqueror. We are much like Israel and Jesus is much like Joshua. In fact, their names mean the same thing, Jehovah Saves. Israel needed leadership to gain freedom and Joshua provided it. We need leadership to gain eternal freedom and Jesus provides it.

Joshua and Jesus conquered the troublers of God’s people. The original inhabitant of the promised land were immoral and ungodly. Joshua was commanded to drive them out. Israel did not inhabit the land without a struggle. But, God was with them. Their obedience to Him resulted in success. Disobedience resulted in failure. Humanity needed help getting out of spiritual darkness. There was no hope and they were without God (Ephesians 2:12).
