Reason to pray

Praying is coming into conversation and showing a willingness for having a relation where you want to talk, and would love to have somebody who answers.

Prayer like any conversation can give us the feeling of connection with the other person; in this instance our heavenly Father. By having the means of a conversation will also have a means of a personal connection with God. This private connection will give a greater sense of God’s purpose in all things but especially in our life. And we can trust His perfect wisdom as we pour our fears and needs before the feet of our God in heaven. As John Piper has said,

“Prayer for God’s help is one way that God preserves and manifests the dependence of his people on his grace and power. The necessity of prayer is a constant reminder and display of our dependence on God for everything, so that he gets the glory when we get the help.”

Prayer has the power to transform. It can take the pressures of the day and turn them into stepping stones of greater trust in the Lord.

Hannah prayed and she was transformed. The scripture says:

“(17) And Ěli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl give you your petition which you have asked of Him.” (18) And she said, “Let your female servant find favour in your eyes.” And the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no more sad. (19) And they rose up early in the morning and worshipped before יהוה {Jehovah}, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elqanah knew Ḥannah his wife, and יהוה {Jehovah} remembered her.” (1 Samuel 1:17-19 The Scriptures 1998+)

Hannah as a woman of a sorrowful spirit had poured out her soul before Jehovah speaking out of the abundance of her complaint and grief. Her prayer made her change. Her tears were turned over to the Adonai through prayer. God comforted her and lifted the heaviness of her soul. Her face was transformed through prayer. The change in Hannah’s countenance showed that she received the promise with faith. This faith was expressed through prayer to the Almighty God. Prayer transformed her, enabling her to leave differently than when she came to the God of Abraham in prayer. Hannah experienced the transforming power of prayer.

Also we, today, can experience always that changing strength of the speech with the Higher Being. The conversation with the Higher Power may create in us what we allow it to happen. If we are prepared to let us be changed by this speech this also will happen.

In ancient Israel, the incense that was regularly offered on Jehovah’s altar had to be carefully and precisely prepared.
